Radio City’s Christmas Spectacular Quick Review

November 25, 2007

The Rockettes’ were the stars of this schmultzy Christmas extravaganza that has become a staple of Radio City. The show was brilliant for the first half hour and then started to drag for the remaining 60 minutes. Two things I loved:

  • the 3-D animation at the beginning; and
  • the stage sets were impressive (as pictured above).

Two points of things I didn’t love:

  • the performance conveyed an overarching sense of nostalgia for a “better time” which compounded by the very “white” cast creeped me out; and
  • there was one very tacky (and blatant) episode of product placement.
