Tonight, Douglas Gayeton’s documentary short “Molotov Alva and the Search for His Creator: A Second Life Odyssey” airs on Cinemax at 8pm EST (like right now, sorry for the late notice).
I knew this would develop into something when I posted about it back in April 2007. Part philosophical tract, part travel guide to the subcultures of Second Life (SL), the documentary is a good primer about the universal attraction to virtual worlds.
I found this interesting about New World Note’s article on the SL flick:
In creating it, Douglas more or less invented a new technique to shoot machinima, waded through 100 hours of footage, and wound up with a movie that challenges the very definition of “documentary”.
