my company patrons “The Immaterial Art Emperor”
and would like to clarify one point;

The happenings of putting a “Please New Museum Show My Work” banner on the new museum, has absolutely NO RELATIONSHIPwhat-so-ever with the paintings shown in the above images.

Sorry to disappoint you guys but the combination of these two very different types of artistic messages is simply false Internet propaganda.

I feel sorry for the person that found it cool to make up such a story… it’s pathetic.

I think it’s pretty effective as an emblem of the desire of the vast majority of artists these days — and, indeed, for as long as artworks have been valuable as commodities and vehicles for their creators’ fame — to simply be noticed, no matter the reason; the emphasis is not on the work itself, but on the work being seen. Without being seen, it might as well not exist: so goes much thinking among opportunistic artists. This is not to say that this was the intent behind the piece; but it certainly is an effect of it.

I like the banner idea but the painting & sticker definitely screamed "LOVE ME" or at least write about me. I still think the unsanctioned dead doe performance/action at the New Museum was better than this.

Hah- I was just getting ready to fwd this to you but I thought I should check first if you’d posted it. And you had.

I love the 007 scheming that must have gone into planning out how to get onto the balcony and unfurl the banner, but I really would have hoped his actual statement was a bit less pathetic. If you’re going to do a big publicity stunt, you might want to actually make people suspect that you are a good artist, not just a desperate one.
