Kim Holleman’s Mountain of Plastic Bags

Part of her solo show at Black & White‘s great Williamsburg back lot this is “Future Mountain” (2008). I lived next door to Kim in Bushwick and she built a mini-version of this plastic bag range (it was really a wall) in the hallway between our lofts.

She made it green and lush-seeming, almost tropical. This formation feels colder and more remote, kind of what I expect Utah to feel like. I haven’t been back to see it after the opening but I’m itching to see it before it comes down in late May.
