Looking at Georges Seurat’s “A Sunday on La Grande Jatte” at Chicago’s Art Institute

Painted in 1884-86, it looks stunning. This photo is a more accurate depiction of how masterpieces are experienced live. Rare is the opportunity to be alone in a room with a great painting. Art books are very valuable since they offer the only chance to interact with famous works of art privately. The intimacy always reveals something that you can’t see it in a busy museum.

Art Institute of Chicago and a link to the painting here.
