Next Door to Iran: Human Rights in Armenia the Focus of Discussion at 16 Beaver

Now that Iran has focused the spotlight on human rights in West Asia and the semi-democratic nations of the region, I thought it was only appropriate to highlight a lecture by a human rights activist friend of mine who is one of the speakers at this event. He will be talking about human rights in Armenia and the role of the Armenian diaspora.

The lecture will take place at 16 Beaver, which is a create arts/event space, and will include discussions of anti-democratic practices, brutality against journalists, the rape of soldiers by army officers, unconstitutional evictions, environmental devastation and other issues that are not being publicized by others.

I wish I was in New York to attend this – it looks like it’s going to be a great discussion about a topic that needs as much attention as it can get.
