During last month’s Bushwick Open Studios, I was mesmerized by Summer Wheat’s “My First Rap Song” (2009), so I posted something about it over at BushwickBk.com–accompanied by a short video interview by moi.

Wheat is a skilled painter who has found a very hypnotic way of creating art that works on many levels. While the art works obviously grapple with social issues their power lies in the artist’s use of paint and composition.
